Ebony Fortunatow Ceramics
"I had a delightful class in which Ebony coached me on how to hand-build a vase, which now features proudly on a sideboard in my living room. Her ceramic pieces are absolutely lovely, stand-out works of art and I have now spent many years accumulating one-of-a-kind mugs, plates, serving dishes and vases from her collections. The aesthetic, homely nature of her pieces gives me daily joy and they are always a highlight in dinner conversation with guests!"

"Walking into Ebony’s tranquil studio, surrounded by inspiring handmade pottery, felt instantly peaceful. Creating my own one-of-a-kind piece was such a special experience. Ebony is a wonderful teacher — she offered thoughtful feedback throughout the process and was always there to assist when needed. It’s awakened a creativity inside me and I can’t wait to book in again soon!"

"Ebony's class was the most fun I've had doing something creative in such a long time! I found it therapeutic and relaxing, all while learning new skills, coming away with completed pieces to take home. Ebony is gifted as an artist and teacher. She has created a beautiful space, I highly recommend these classes."

ABOUT ME

Ebony Fortunatow (née Heidenreich) is an Adelaide-based ceramic artist whose work reflects a deep appreciation for materiality, texture and the quiet presence of handmade objects.

Trained at JamFactory, her work has been collected by the National Gallery of Victoria, the Shepparton Art Museum, and exhibited nationally. Working from her studio in Stepney Norwood, Ebony draws inspiration from architecture, natural materials and the forms and colours found in nature. She creates objects with the spaces we inhabit in mind.

Honouring the value of well-made products and the beauty of thoughtful design, she explores how form and material can shape how we experience a space, offering work that feels grounded, refined and quietly expressive.
